Paired Comparisons for Forced Choice

Clinicians and patients are loath to admit that everything isn't under control and going according to plan. Consequently, standard attitude surveys with typical rating scale formats can be uninformative. Instead, presenting potential problem areas in pairs, "which is more of a problem?", liberates the respondent to respond. The Figure compares the item calibrations from administrations of this kind of paired-comparison survey to Nurses and to Allied Health practitioners. The similarities and differences in their perspectives are now evident.
